Woman gets 22-year jail for human trafficking

TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad Special Court Judge Raja Pervez Akhtar handed down on Monday 22-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs5.4 million to convict Ayesha Sarwar in four human trafficking cases.

Ayesha was booked by the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) for extorting Rs5.1 million from complainants Tahir Mahmood, Abdul Salam, Sheikh Mahfooz Ahmad and Nisar Ahmad in 2016 for sending them to the UK along with their families but she not only failed to send them to the UK but also did not return their money.

The court acquitted Amjad Hussain giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Ayesha who was on bail was arrested by the police from the courtroom and was shifted to jail.

KITES: The Jhang city police impounded a truck loaded with more than 50,000 kites on Monday in Basti Abdullahpur, Jhang.

The police said truck driver Zawar Hussain disclosed that he had to supply kites to different cities.

ACCIDENTS: A man and his daughter died when a bus hit their motorcycle on Monday at Faisalabad on Jarranwala Road.

Rescue 1122 reported a textile mills bus driver tried to overtake another vehicle and ran over the motorcyclists. They died instantly. They were identified as Muhammad Rafiq, 40, and Samreen, 20.

Also, a woman on a motorcycle died when a bus hit their motorcycle on Monday near Jamia Chishtia Chowk, Faisalabad. She was identified as Sumera Naeem, 24, while her brother driving the bike remained unhurt.

INJURED: Four people were injured critically when their car crashed into a truck on the motorway near Deputywala interchange.

They were the residents of Rawalpindi. They were rushed to Allied Hospital. They were identified as Shahid Mahmood, 22, Kiran Bibi, 28, Amjad Ali, 30, and Muskan Bibi, six.
