KARACHI: Armed assailants gunned down a man, said to be an informer, in the SITE area on Thursday, police said.

They added that nknown persons sprayed a volley of bullets on Tahir Ali near Rehmania Masjid in Pathan Colony.He died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities. The police said that the exact motive for the murder could not be ascertained immediately.

However, SITE-A SHO Bhai Khan said that the victim had a dubious past and he was allegedly involved in drugs business and other criminal activities. He was also said to have worked with law enforcement agencies as their ‘informer’.

The officer said the assailants opened indiscriminate firing on him, as investigators collected around 10 spent bullet casings from the scene. He said the killers used a 9mm pistol and a .30-bore pistol in the incident.
