EATING HABITS

EATING HABITS: Today’s parents need to keep an eye on their children’s daily diet, as almost every aspect of our lifestyle has changed, including eating habits. It is sad that most children are exposed to a life of ease, with things handed to them on a silver platter. Fast-food consumption among children is on the rise and there is no concept of hygiene. This is leading to an unhealthy lifestyle, with children facing skin, dental and vision issues. Apart from teaching good behaviour and maintaining hygiene, the parents should provide their children with a nutritious and balanced diet.

LIBRARY IN TURBAT: Located in southern Balochistan, Turbat is the administrative centre of Kech district. In 2014, a public library was built in the city but that has remained closed for the last two years. Even when the library was functional, it did not have a separate portion for girls, washrooms and even water supply. In this age when people have access to digital libraries, Turbat lacks a simple conventional library which is regrettable on many counts.

HOSPITALS IN SINDH: Recently, Sindh Police directed the ambulance services, when necessary, wounded policemen should be shifted to a private hospital instead of a government facility. This indicates the poor state of government hospitals in the province. Although the government has invested billions of rupees in hospitals, it has failed to improve performance and delivery.

SEPCO CORRUPTION: In Dadu district’s Wahi Pandhi area, I was running my tubewell through electricity under the Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco). Recently, I suffered a significant loss and made a formal request for permanent disconnection. A month later I received an electricity bill exceeding Rs50,000 against a tubewell that has been officially closed. I am trying to get the mistake rectified, but every official I have met looks for a bribe. Can anyone take notice?
