PIA inducts A320 aircraft
RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan International Airlines has inducted another Airbus A320 aircraft into its fleet, as one of the four planes that PIA had acquired arrived here at Islamabad International Airport on Friday.
A spokesman for the PIA said the leased aircraft — a narrow-body 170-seater aircraft built four years ago — was one of the four aircraft selected by the PIA management.
The remaining three Airbus A320s will also be inducted into the PIA fleet in the next few months. PIA had floated tenders in this regard to acquire eight new aircraft after the lease of six Airbus aircraft expired. The national flag carrier comprises 29 aircraft including 12 Boeing 777, 11 Airbus A320 and six ATR aircraft.
The spokesman said that with the induction of four new aircraft into the fleet, it would help to improve scheduled operations of the national flag carrier, besides ensuring better air-travel facilities for passengers. PIA is planning to extend its fleet to 49 from 29 till 2026.
