From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1972: Fifty Years Ago: Bizenjo hopeful

There was no issue of the newspaper on April 28, 1972, on account of the Eid Miladun Nabi holiday. The following excerpt has been taken from the previous day’s issue.

LAHORE: The NAP leader, Mr Ghaus Bakhsh Bizenjo, had another round of talks with President Bhutto at the Government House here. …Mr Bizenjo said that he was hopeful about the outcome of the talks. Before the talks started … Mr Bizenjo, who had accompanied the President from Rawalpindi, had said that the real issue engaging the attention of the PPP and the NAP-JUI alliance was the development of mutual confidence based on proper understanding — and not the question of the appointment of Governors in the NWFP and Baluchistan.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress in tonight’s [April 26] talks, Mr Bizenjo said he would be going to Peshawar … for discussion with his party chief, Khan Abdul Wali Khan, and leaders of the JUI. Whether or not another meeting with the President would be necessary would be decided in consultation with the leaders of the alliance. Earlier … before … his meeting … Mr Bizenjo said that while the People’s Party would be in power at the Centre and in two provinces, the NAP-JUI alliance would form Ministries in the remaining two provinces.
