Bangladesh confirms participation in SAG baseball

LAHORE: After India, the Bangladesh Baseball Federation also confirmed their participation in next year’s South Asian Games (SAG) to be hosted by Pakistan.

According to Pakistan Federation Baseball president Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, his Bangladesh counterpart had ensured their participation at all cost even if their country’s national Olympic committee will not bear the expenses, saying they were ready to come to Pakistan on their own.

The Pakistan Olympic Association is required to announce the disciplines to be included in the regional games.

Revealing Sri Lanka and Nepal were also ready to compete, Fakhar claimed Pakistan had bright chances to win gold medals in both men’s and women’s event of baseball at the SAG.

Meanwhile, Fakhar said Pakistan Sports Board’s director general retired Col Asif Zaman had assured the baseball camp for the Asian and South Asian Games would be set up soon in Islamabad.

Pakistan directly qualified for the baseball event of the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China during September this year.
