Price-check raid: AC ‘attacked’ by fertiliser dealer, others
TOBA TEK SINGH: Kamalia assistant commissioner (AC) was allegedly attacked by a fertiliser dealer and seven others on Wednesday during a raid on a shop to check overcharging.
As per the first information report (FIR) filed by Kamalia city police on the complaint of AC Zaryab Sajid, on the complaint of some farmers against a fertiliser dealer Rafique, he (AC) conducted a raid on his shop.
On finding the dealer involved in overcharging the farmers, the officials started filling a challan slip. Sensing that he would be slapped with fine, the dealer and his seven accomplices attacked the AC and his team, snatched the challan book and threatened them of dire consequences.
On the AC’s complaint, the police registered an FIR under sections 382, 506, 147, 149 and 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code, against the suspects, without arresting any of them so far.
Meanwhile, the dealer has refuted the allegations leveled by the AC in the FIR. He claims that the local fertiliser dealers association has decided to observe a strike against AC for allegedly harassing the dealers.
BOY DROWNS: A boy drowned in Jhang Branch Canal, Faisalabad, at Dangro bridge located near Chak 127-JB, Bhattiwala on Wednesday.
Rescue 1122 officials said Nayyer Nawaz, 15, was playing on the bank when he fell into the canal and drowned.
A team of Rescue 1122 divers later fished out the body from the canal.
encounter: A robber was injured reportedly in an encounter with police in Millat Town police station area of Faisalabad early on Wednesday morning.
Reports said two suspects riding a motorcycle looted Kashif at gunpoint and fled. When a police party chased them, they opened indiscriminate fire which was retaliated. When the firing stopped, one of the outlaws was found injured while his accomplice managed to escape.
The injured robber was identified as Ismail Ghaffari of Malikpur locality of Faisalabad.
Police claimed he was injured with the bullets fired by his own accomplice. He was shifted to the Allied hospital, Faisalabad.
The police claimed he was wanted in a number of robberies.
