LHC seeks 18 more banking courts in Punjab

LAHORE: In the wake of growing pendency of cases before the banking courts, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked the Federal Ministry of Law to establish 18 more courts in Punjab.

In a letter written to the federal secretary law, LHC director general of the directorate of district judiciary Masood Arshad noted that the existing strength of the banking courts was not enough to deal with the workload of the cases. He said the law required disposal of cases before the banking courts within nine months and more courts were needed to ensure early disposal of the pending cases.

POSTINGS: The LHC on Friday transferred and posted three civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates in the province.

According to a notification, Nadia Ali and Saira Irum have been transferred from Lahore to Bhalwal while Yasir Hafeez from Lahore to Ahmedpur East.

Through another notification, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich has been transferred from Lahore and posted at Kabirwala.
