Two cops killed as van plunges into Shangla ravine

SHANGLA: Two policemen were killed and 10 injured here when a van coming from Peshawar fell into a ravine in Puran tehsil.

The police personnel were returning to their stations of duty after performing polio duty in Peshawar.

District police officer Mohammad Imran told mediapersons that 11 police constables were onboard the van when it met the accident in hilly Kral area of Chawga. He said constables, Nasibullah and Khairullah, who were deployed in the Chakesar and Chawga police stations, died on the spot.

He said two of the injured policemen were in critical condition.

Mr Imran said van driver, Rayes Khan of Charsadda district, was also injured in the accident, while a policeman escaped unhurt.

The DPO said locals and police shifted the inured and the deceased to the Shaheed Pir Mohammad Khan Hospital, Aloch Puran, where from the injured policemen were shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital, Swat.

Funeral prayers of the deceased constables were offered at the Aloch police station.
