Faith healer, labourer shot dead in city

KARACHI: Two people, including a faith healer, were gunned down in different city areas on Wednesday, police said.

They said that Shahidullah Khan, 45, was shot at and wounded by unknown persons in Sultanabad near Salman Farsi Masjid. He suffered critical bullet injuries and died on way to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

West SSP Suhai Aziz said the victim used to give amulet (taveez) to the people, and his murder might have linked with these activities.

She added that the victim, in the injured condition, gave some names to the people and the police were working on it.

Labourer gunned down

A labourer was gunned down in the Mominabad area on Wednesday.

Police said Khan Zaib, 45, along with other labourers was on his way to work when armed pillion riders shot and injured him at Badar Chowk near Madina Masjid. He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died during treatment.

SSP Aziz, quoting the relatives, said that he had some enmity in his native place in Bajaur. He had come to the city a few months ago. She categorically ruled out the possibility of a robbery bid behind the murder as CCTV footage showed that the assailants were chasing the labourer.
