Pakistan has reported 3,498 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, down from 3,914 a day earlier, and 39 more fatalities.

The national positivity rate has fallen to 6 per cent from 7.1pc yesterday.

The countrywide breakdown is as follows:

• Sindh: 930 cases, 4 deaths
• Punjab: 989 cases, 24 deaths
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 941 cases, 5 deaths
• Balochistan: 29 cases
• Islamabad: 311 cases, 5 deaths
• Gilgit-Baltistan: 56 cases
• Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 242 cases, 1 death
