Nadra and its role
THIS is with reference to the article ‘Nadra’s algebra’ (Jan 28), which has apparently misconstrued the role of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra). It simply issues computerised national identity cards (CNICs), which only ensures that public services are rendered to and by the right person.
As far as Covid vaccination drive is concerned, the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), and Nadra is only the implementation partner responsible for maintaining a transparent database of vaccinated individuals.
Pakistan is one of the countries that have managed a seamless Covid vaccination administration, and so far more than 174 million doses have been administered using the National Immunisation Management System (Nims).
Across the spectrum of all its services, Nadra has specifically focussed on the unregistered individuals by creating a dedicated Inclusive Registration Department (IRD) that strategically devises means to enhance registration.
