‘Pakistan needs to behave like a nuclear state’

LAHORE: Participants in a seminar stressed the need to invest more and more in science and technology as no nation can survive without making advancements in the field of technology.

Punjab University organised a seminar on international geopolitical situations on Thursday. Eminent political scientist and former professor of PU’s Department of Political Science Prof Hamid Kizilbash was the keynote speaker while the deans and heads of various departments participated in the seminar.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad said that there was a need to act in all the disciplines of life just like we act in the state of emergency for the development of the country. He said that every Pakistani must play their role with honesty.

Highlighting various features of global politics, Prof Kizilbash said that we needed to resolve our issues by ourselves.

He said that if our issues would be resolved by the foreign powers, we must be ready for slavery.

He said that the United States had decided to play the role of the leader of the world after World War II, after it felt that Europe was no more able to perform the job.

He said, however, the US was now facing several serious challenges inside and outside the country.

He said that the US had never recognized its people as one nation and the concept of white supremacy was the biggest weakness of the United States.

He said that no one can speak against Israel in the US and many professors and students were expelled from universities that spoke in favour of Palestine.

He said that the US had 800 bases around the world and could attack any country within 10 minutes.

However, he said, the military might of the US can’t keep its role as a world leader intact. He said that some Asian countries like China, Japan and to some extent India were also emerging as powers to lead the world.

He said that Pakistan was also an important country on the world map but it was not behaving like a nuclear state and had not decided to play the role of a leader.

He said that we must trust each other and work for the development of the country before it is too late.

Later, a question-answer session was also held in which the participants discussed the role of the Muslim world as well.
