Residents of Orakzai town demand early construction of road

KOHAT: The residents of Kachai town in the neighbouring Orakzai tribal district have demanded of the authorities to construct road to the area at earliest to minimise their miseries.

A delegation of the residents of the area led by MNA Jawad Hussain met Kohat Commissioner Javed Mawart here on Thursday and informed him about the condition of the road.

Other members of the delegation included former tehsil councillor Mehboob Ali, Hussain Raza, Himmat Ali and Malik Fida Hussain.

MNA Jawad Hussain said on the occasion that road to Kachai was not constructed despite their repeated demand since long. He said that the dirt road caused immense problems to the residents of the area and tourists.

The commissioner assured the delegation that he would soon constitute a committee to resolve the issue.

WALK: The leaders of Da Haq Awaz, an organisation for treatment of drug addicts, and officials of Anti-Narcotics Force have expressed deep concerns over drug abuse in the society.

Addressing a walk, they paid tributes to police, tribesmen, ANF and social organisations for playing role in making Pakistan as opium-free country.

POLICE: The district police chief has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on criminal gangs, land grabbers, extortionists and drug peddlers.

Chairing a meeting on counter-crimes and law and order in his office here on Thursday, DPO Mohammad Suleman asked all the DSPs and SHOs to utilise human resources and conduct intelligence-based operations to bring the criminals to book.

He directed them to strictly follow the policy of registration of crimes to provide relief to the complaints. He said that delay in registration of FIR, and misbehaviour with visitors to police stations would not be tolerated. He also ordered zero-tolerance against firing in the air.

MEETING: Speakers at the annual meeting of the district accounts officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Thursday stressed the need for adopting modern technology in the field of accounting.

The district accounts officers and representatives of the accountant general office attended the meeting held under the auspices of finance department.

Kohat district comptroller Fazal Noor and district accounts officer Pir Syed Mujahid Hussain Shah presided over the meeting jointly.
