KARACHI: The Sindh Cabinet on Tuesday approved an extension in the special powers of the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) within Karachi division for another 90 days.

The extension was accorded under Section 4(2) of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.

The special powers given to the paramilitary force had expired on Dec 23, 2021.

According to the special powers, the Rangers are authorised to conduct raids and arrests suspects. The paramilitary troops have been deployed in the city since 1989.
