Artists paint northern landscape in water colours

PESHAWAR: Noted water colourist Ali Sajid and his colleagues recently conducted an art exhibition titled ‘Golden Hour’ in Islamabad to attract foreign tourists through painting landscapes and tourist spots.

The objective of the exhibition was to boost local culture and tourism.

Since it was an outcome of the last year summer camp in the northern areas from which selected artworks were put on display for the art lovers, said Ali Sajid. He said that visitors showed great interest in the artworks.

He told this scribe that artists from across the country had participated in the summer camp and art pieces of 15 artists were selected for the exhibition including those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that most of the artists presented wonderful artworks, focusing on natural beauty and tourist spots in the northern areas to attract foreign visitors.

“There is no denying the fact that north of our country is home to numerous sights and sounds filled with charming thick forests, serene valleys, rills of crystal clear water and green meadows and above all, peaceful and hospitable population drenched in rich cultural and linguistic diversity. Painting north will definitely invite attention of nature lovers,” said the artist.

He said that summer painting camp encouraged young artists including students to use their talent to paint many beautiful faces of north whether nature, flora and fauna through strokes and creative angles.

He said that cultural and linguistic diversity was yet another aspect that artists had always wanted to capture through the lens of their cameras and later transformed them into piece of art for their galleries.

Mr Sajid said that art galleries served as visual windows to visitors and tourists as they carried a powerful message about everything of the area peace, culture and traditions. He said that promoting art activities was directly linked to development of culture and tourism. He added that artists would continue to present the peaceful image of the country.
