Three killed in attack on tribal elder’s convoy

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Three people were killed and five others, including the younger brother of Balochistan’s former caretaker chief minister Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Barozai, were injured in an attack in Sibi on Saturday.

Police said that Nawabzada Baro Khan Barozai, who is the son of Nawab Mohammad Khan Barozai, the first speaker of Balochistan Assembly, was returning home along with his guards and other people after offering Fateha. When his convoy reached Luni Road, armed men hiding in the area opened indiscriminate fire on his convoy.

At least eight people received bullet wounds in the attack and three of them died. Soon after receiving information about the incident, security personnel rushed to the area. They shifted the injured to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and the district hospital in Sibi.

Police said the condition of Baro Khan, who is under treatment in the CMH, was stated to be serious.

Police are investigating the incident.

The deceased were identified as Malik Azizullah Safi, Imran Khan Safi and Akhtar Marghazani.

The police said that the cause of firing could be an old feud.
