Robbers kill man, loot Rs1.6m in Malir

KARACHI: A 28-year-old man was shot dead by armed robbers in Malir City on Wednesday, according to police.

They added that Tauqeer was killed by armed pillion riders during a mugging incident at Suleman Tower in Malir.

Area SHO Chaudhry Aslam said the victim worked at a firm that provided labourers to a factory. He drew over Rs1.6 million from a private bank in the Kala Board area.

As he was returning to the office at Suleman Tower, armed pillion riders, who apparently chased him, intercepted and fired at him, snatched the cash and rode away.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead.

The area SHO said that despite the fact that the victim did not put up any resistance the robbers shot and killed him anyway.

The police were investigating the case.

Teenage girl shot dead in Jauhar

A 15-year-old girl was shot dead in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Wednesday evening, police said.

They added that Qamrosh Zainul Abdeen was killed by unknown suspect(s) at the doorstep of her apartment in Block-11.

Sharea Faisal SHO Mazhar Kango said the victim and her mother were present in their apartment at the time of the incident.

The mother told the police that she was in her room when someone knocked the door. As her daughter opened the door, someone fired a shot and fled. She rushed after hearing the gunshot and found her teenage daughter bleeding. She was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced her dead.

The officer said they were trying to obtain the CCTV footage etc to ascertain the possible identity and motive of the killers.

Meanwhile, Wazir Ali, 28, suffered bullet wounds when he put up resistance to a robbery bid in New Karachi Industrial Area.

Police said a suspect, identified as Suleman Ali, also sustained a bullet wound and arrested. They said his accomplice shot him accidentally when he opened fire at Wazir.
