QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has said that observing strikes and staging sit-ins does not suit the doctors because they belong to a sacred profession of serving humanity.

In a policy statement regarding the strike and protest by young doctors issued here on Wednesday, the chief minister said that the Balochistan High Court had also directed the doctors to end their strike and protest without any delay.

“Doctors belong to the holy profession and they should be on duty in the hospitals instead of on roads,” he said, adding that the doctors belonged to a much respected segment of society.

He said there would be no remedy if someone lost his life in the absence of doctors.

Mr Bizenjo said his government was ready to resolve all legitimate problems of the young doctors. He said a four-member parliamentary committee had been formed for negotiations with the doctors. The committee was empowered to settle the issues and the government would implement its report and suggestions, he added.

“Young doctors should hold negotiations with the parliamentary committee with an open heart,” he said and added that his government came into power with the spirit of serving the people and resolving the problems being faced by the doctors.

The chief minister expressed the hope that the doctors would end their strike keeping in view the government’s assurance about resolving their problems and orders of the high court.
