Three die, 10 injured in two accidents

NAROWAL: Three persons, including two schoolchildren, died and 10 other people, including seven students, were injured in two road accidents in the district on Thursday.

The first incident involved a motorcycle-rickshaw and a school bus on the Darman Ropuchak Road in tehsil Zafarwal.

The driver of the private school bus lost control of the vehicle, it hit motorcycle-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction and overturned. Four people who were travelling in the three-wheeler and seven schoolchildren were injured in the accident.

The passengers of the motorcycle-rickshaw were identified as Ijaz Ahmed (23), Bushra Bibi (60), Shehzadi Bibi (40) and Nazia Bibi (38). Of them, Nazia died later.

Immediately after the accident, the driver of the bus fled the scene. The Rescue 1122 officials and the locals pulled the injured students out of the bus.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital. In the second accident, a tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle and killed the two brothers who were going to school on the two-wheeler.

The deceased were identified as Danish Azhar (15), a 10th class student, and Daim Azhar (12), a 7th class student, both sons of Azhar Bhatti, a resident of the Gohadpur area of Sialkot district.

The siblings were going to school on a motorcycle when the speeding tractor-trolley hit their motorcycle near the Government Islamia School Gohadpur. Both of them were seriously injured. The tractor-trolley driver fled the scene.

Rescue 1122 rushed to the site but both the brothers had died on the spot. The rescuers shifted the bodies to Allama Iqbal Hospital. Police handed over the bodies to the family of the boys after post-mortem.
