Constable stabbed to death, another hurt in Keamari

KARACHI: A policeman was stabbed to death and another wounded in the Keamari area on Tuesday, officials said.

They said that Constable Sohail, 23, and Shahbaz, 27, were attacked by a ‘burqa-clad’ person in Sikandarabad.

The officials said that according to their families they had gone there to meet a common friend after one of them received a phone call.

“They both were good friends,” said an official. “They were off duty when the incident happened. Witnesses said as soon as they got off the motorbike, a burqa-clad person attacked them and stabbed them multiple times with a dagger. They suffered serious injuries and were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where Sohail died.”

He said there was a little chance that the incident was linked with their professional association as it appeared to be motivated by personal matters.

However, he said, the police were waiting for Shahbaz to get stable and take his statement to know the exact reasons and people behind the incident.
