Unvaccinated people not to be allowed to enter offices, use transport

RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Friday asked citizens to get their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible otherwise they will not be allowed to enter government offices and use public transport.

The decisions were taken at a meeting held at the deputy commissioner office with additional deputy commissioner Asher Iqbal in the chair.

The district administration, however, failed to provide a mechanism to check whether people are vaccinated or not.

Meanwhile, the District Health Authority will launch community vaccination campaign to inoculate children over 12 years of age on the directives of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar from Monday.

On the other hand, the number of Covid-19 cases slightly increased compared to last week.

As many as three persons died in the district on Friday and 28 people tested positive.

Besides, 11 patients were discharged from the hospitals after recovering. The positivity rate in Rawalpindi district remained 1.80pc.

Yamin Abbasi, 69, resident of Chamanzar Colony, was brought to Pims on Oct 21 where he died on Friday. Musab Khan, 73, from Gujar Khan was also shifted to Pims on Oct 21 where he died on Friday.

Nazli Ahmed, 58, resident of Defence Road, also succumbed to the virus at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology where she was brought on Oct 21.
