Matric general group result announced
KARACHI: The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Friday posted on its website the results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) General Group (Regular and Private) Part-II and of the final exams taken by deaf and mute students in 2021 on Friday.
Around 19,638 students registered to take the General Group examination of which 18,640 sat for the exams. Some 998 didn’t appear for the two exams being taken and 354 missed one paper. Some 8,191 of those appearing for both exams were male and 10,449 were female.
The passing percentage in the exams was 98.10 per cent. Those who passed with the A-1 grade numbered 733 while 1,622 got the A grade. Meanwhile, 2,810 passed with B grade, 3,842 passed with C grade, 4,697 got D grade and 4,355 got E grade.
This year, the board had decided not to declare position because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The deaf and mute students who appeared for their exams numbered 99 out of 104 who had registered. Of these, 98 passed in the first division while one student, who missed one paper, failed the exam bringing the passing percentage to 98.99pc.
Candidates can also check the results by sending an SMS with the message ‘bsek’ to 8583.
About the rest of the pending exam results, the acting Controller of Exams Zaheeruddin Bhutto told Dawn that they are working as fast as they can under the given circumstances to finalise the results but it’s taking time because of the formulas they need to follow in the calculation of marks.
“You see, as per the decision of the government, which has been agreed upon by all the Matric boards of Sindh, we are to add five per cent marks to those who sat for the Matric Part-II papers while three per cent marks are to be added to Part-I students. It takes time to do that,” he explained.
When asked how come the Matric boards of other cities, for example, Larkana, Sukkur, Nawabshah, etc, have already finalised or announced their results, Mr Bhutto pointed out that there they had 25,000 to 30,000 candidates while in Karachi there are more than 350,000.
“We hope to announce the remaining results by the end of October,” he said.
