Parkha edges sister Rimsha to lift ladies title

LAHORE: Parkha Ijaz fired rounds of 68 each to edge sister Rimsha by two strokes and win the ladies event of the Punjab Open Golf Championship at the PAF Skyview Golf Course here on Thursday.

Parkha’s two-round aggregate of 136 was a national record and saw her finish clear of Rimsha, who was level with her after the first round but finished with a 70 in the second.

The other events that concluded on Thursday were senior professionals, senior amateurs and junior professionals.

Naseer Khan fired a 73 for a 146 in the senior professionals that saw him finish two shots ahead of Tahir Naseem and four ahead of third-placed Mohammad Akram.

Lt Col Mohammad Shafi’s 75 saw him take the senior amateurs’ title with a 158, finishing just a stroke ahead of Tariq Mehmood (82) while Asim Tiwana (77) was third on 161.

Abdul Wadood (74) won the junior professionals’ crown with a two-round score of 144, three shots ahead of Mohammad Saqib (73). Ali Raza finished third on 157.

The three-round professionals’ event begins from Friday.
