SHANGLA: The residents of Alpuri tehsil on Friday filed a case with the consumer court against the cellular companies over poor mobile and internet services.

Mian Safeer Advocate, a member of the Shangla Bar Association, submitted the complaint on behalf of the residents.

The people stated in the complaint that they had been facing problems due to poor mobile signals and internet speed. They said that whenever they dialed a number they found the mobile companies’ networks busy, while in some areas mobile signals remained disappeared for days.

The residents complained that students attending online classes were also facing problems due to poor internet speed.

The complainants said the local officials of the cellular companies had been contacted time and again, and formal complaints were also lodged through the citizen portal with the request to the authorities to ask the companies to improve their mobile signals and internet speed, but to no avail.

Mian Safeer Advocate told the court that the Shangla residents had long been facing these issues. He said that a mobile company had 80 per cent of towers installed across the Shangla district, but its management was reluctant to improve its service.

He said that the people working out of the district were greatly troubled at not being able to contact with their families back home due to poor mobile signals. The lawyer said that he was hopeful that the consumer court would make the mobile companies to improve their services in the district.
