Call for reopening of Taftan trade corridor

CHAGAI: Trade activities between Pakistan and Iran remained suspended for almost eight hours on Wednesday in protest against the alleged forced closure of the Bazarcha trade corridor.

The protest was organised by the Labour Union Taftan outside the Pakistan Customs Office against the FBR for shutting down the trade corridor which is used for import of cement and tiles from Iran.

The protesters chanted slogans against the FBR and urged the authorities to reopen the Bazarcha trade corridor which had recently been opened by the Iranian authorities. The protest was called off after the Taftan assistant commissioner assured the Labour Union president of considering their demands.
