Two ‘gangsters’ arrested, over Rs10 million pay orders seized

KARACHI: The Kalakot police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two alleged members of the Uzair Baloch-led gang.

City SSP Sarfraz Nawaz said they were allegedly involved in murder, extortion, robberies and sale of drugs.

The police said suspects Mohammed Zubair alias Chotu and Rehman Ali were arrested and arms, one kilo of crystal meth (commonly known as drug ‘ice’), and pay orders amounting to over Rs10 million were seized from them.

The SSP said they were linked with Mullah Nisar, a ‘commander’ of Uzair Baloch-led gang.

During initial probe, the suspects confessed that on the directives of Mullah Sohail, they had killed four gangsters associated with their rival gang led by Baba Ladla in 2013, 2014 and 2015, the SSP said. Besides, they were also involved in the killing of a political activist in 2014, he added.

According to the SSP, the suspects had recently snatched the pay orders from an employee of the district municipal corporation, Keamari.

A Korangi Industrial Area police officer said the body of the deceased, appeared to be in his early 30s, was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that divers recovered the trussed-up body that also bore marks of torture.
