Smart city project inaugurated in Thatta

THATTA: Hyderabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sharjeel Ahmed Kharal has said the smart city project in Thatta district will bring peace, control crime and maintain law and order.

Briefing reporters on the inauguration of the project at the office of the Thatta SSP, he said that in modern times, it was not possible to improve service delivery without effective use of information technology.

Praising Thatta SSP Imran Khan for making the system operational, he said he was one of the professional officers who maintained high standards of policing.

The SSP said the smart city project in Thatta would prove to be a revolutionary system for crime control, traffic management and monitoring because under the project not only CCTV cameras had been installed at sensitive places in the entire city, but also all matters related to policing brought together under one roof.

The project is established on a self-help basis by engaging the local and Karachi-based business community.

All the equipment was arranged by getting payment done directly from contributors/donors to vendors. It extends up to a distance of 12 kilometres in different directions and covers all entry/exit points and important locations of both Thatta and Makli towns.

He said the purpose of the project was to provide all modern police facilities to people under one roof, which would not only reduce crime, but also help in tracing culprits.
