Progress on Balochistan uplift projects reviewed

QUETTA: The progress on new and ongoing uplift projects under the Public Sector Develop­ment Programme was discussed at a meeting presided over by Balo­chistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani.

Briefing the meeting, the additional chief secretary of planning and development department said that the development programme for the current financial year includes 155 schemes of PDWP and 2,131 schemes of DSC while 1,731 other projects had been approved by different forums.

He said there were a total of 859 development schemes, including 158 ongoing and 235 new projects.

The meeting was informed about authorisation of projects, issuance of tenders and development projects to be completed in the current financial year.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the process of PDWP and DSC for approval of projects be expedited.

He directed officials concerned that an integrated strategy be adopted under the department of building and road performance evaluation to evaluate the performance of contractors working on the projects.

The meeting was attended by Mir Arif Jan Muhammad Hasani, Mir Umar Khan Jamali, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Zamarak Khan Achakzai, Motahar Niaz Rana, Hafiz Abdul Basit, Asfandyar Khan, Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Zahid Saleem, Ghulam Ali Baloch, Shahzada Farhat Ahmadzai and Dr Sajjad Baloch.
