Action against nine officials ordered over train accident

SUKKUR: Pakistan Rai­lways has released an inquiry report on the collision between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express trains near Daharki in Sindh on June 7, which left 66 people dead and a number of passengers injured.

The railways secretary has directed the general manager of Pakistan Railways to take action, according to the railway law, against nine Sukkur-based officials who have been declared responsible for the negligence leading to the accident.

The officials include Divisional Superintendent Tariq Latif, his deputy Asghar Bhutto, Divisional Engineer-III Ghulam Mohammad Lakho and Assistant Engineer Mohammad Rasheed Even after this accident, several collisions between passenger and goods trains have taken place in Sukkur division.
