44 more Covid deaths in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab reported 1,588 Covid-19 cases and 44 more deaths during the last 24 hours.

The infection tally now stands at 396,326 while the death toll has risen to 11,959.

Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said the province-wide vaccination campaign was successfully moving towards its goals.

He said special standard operating procedures (SOPs) were issued for various sectors in view of the growing corona situation across the province.

He said as many as 662 centres were carrying out operations to vaccinate the masses on a daily basis and the vaccination campaign was successfully underway in the province.

During the last 24 hours, 13 deaths were recorded in Lahore whereas 44 deaths were reported in Punjab. During the last 24 hours, 23,394 tests were conducted making a total of 6,841,761 tests till date.

In the last 24 hours, 712 people were tested positive in Lahore, 110 in Faisalabad, 101 in Rawalpindi, 68 each in Multan and Muzaffargarh, 49 in Rahim Yar Khan, 47 in Bahawalpur, 43 in Gujranwala, 33 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 31 in Okara, 30 in Jhang, 27 in Toba Tek Singh, 26 in Sialkot, 21 in Sargodha, 19 in Khanewal, 15 in Mianwali, 14 each in Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Lodhran, Rajanpur and Sahiwal, 12 in Sheikhupura, 10 each in Kasur and Nankana, nine each in Jhelum, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, eight each in Chiniot and Vehari, seven in Attock and six in Layyah.

The overall positivity rate was recorded at 6.8 in all cities across the province. The provincial capital recorded a positive rate of 8.6, Rawalpindi 10.5, Faisalabad 12.0, Multan 11.1 and Muzaffargarh 5.8.
