FGEHA to allot 10pc plots in F-12, G-12 to remaining Thallian project members

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) on Tuesday decided to allot 10pc plots in F-12 and G-12 to those members who have paid down payment for Thallian project.

“It was decided in the executive board meeting that those members of Thallian Housing Scheme who have deposited their down payment will be allotted 10pc plots in F-12 and G-12 based on age-wise seniority,” says a press release issued by the FGEHA.

The executive board meeting, presided over by Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema, also decided that those members who were affected by the land-sharing formula would be allotted plots in F-12 and G-12 on priority basis on age-wise seniority.

The press release said the board in its meeting “highly appreciated the efforts of the FGEHA team who had worked day and night and successfully conducted the balloting of plots in a transparent manner”.

Rates to be issued after allotment process starts, official says

It is relevant to note here that recently the FGEHA conducted balloting to allot over 4,500 plots of various sizes in F-14 and F-15 and a numbers of judges were also among those who got the plots on age-wise seniority basis.

However, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Friday suspended the allotment of plots to Islamabad’s judiciary in the two sectors after observing that this award of land was sheer conflict of interest. The IHC’s larger bench now will hear the case on Sept 13.

The FGEHA, besides focusing on F-14 and F-15, also wants to get possession of land in populated sectors, G-12 and F-12. Earlier, these two sectors were acquired by CDA, however, the civic agency could not implement its award to get possession of land there, which resulted in mushroom growth of houses.

However, last year, the federal government had allowed the FGEHA to develop these two sectors.

The authority fixed around Rs7.2 million as compensation to the local landowners for one kanal. Currently, the FGEHA’s process of acquiring land in the two sectors is underway.

An official of FGEHA said the authority would have to spend billions of rupees on land acquisition and development of these two sectors.

Asked about the rate of plots, he said: “Rates will be issued when the allotment process is started. At present, we are acquiring land for Rs7.2 million per kanal, therefore, it seems the rate of plots in these sectors will be higher than others.”
