Balochistan committed to ending corruption, says chief secretary

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana on Friday directed the services and general administration secretary to complete investigation into the allegations of corruption and misconduct against officials of various departments within a month.

“The government believes in complete discouragement of government officers and employees indulging in wrong practices and misuse of powers they have been given to serve the masses,” Mr Rana said.

The chief secretary declared that strict action would be taken against the officers and officials found involved in malpractices and corruption. He said government officials and employees were there to serve the people and they should perform their duties with utmost honesty and sincerity.

“The government of Balochistan is committed to eradicate corruption from the province and no leniency will be extended to any government officers and officials,” he said, while directing the services and general administration secretary to complete all inquiries pending against the employees and submit a report within a month.

So far, 17 employees, including officers of fisheries department and some other departments, have been dismissed from their service for being involved in malpractices and corruption as per directive of the chief secretary.
