PPP and Muttahida ruined Karachi’s infrastructure: JI

KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Saturday accused both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) of ruining the infrastructure and civic system of Karachi. The ruination is felt more after events like Eidul Azha, he observed.

He was speaking to reporters at a slaughterhouse in Gadap Town from where meat of sacrificial animals was dispatched to different areas of Karachi and other cities of Sindh for distribution among the poor.

He noted that people were facing serious problems due to incompetence of the provincial government.

“Over the past 13 years, the provincial government has failed to install a proper and effective system for garbage and offal lifting, particularly on such occasions,” he said.

“The PPP government has appointed administrator in Karachi for corruption and not for any good,” he alleged.

He noted that without having any power and authority, they had fielded hundreds of volunteers just to keep the system running. Without contribution of the welfare bodies, this city and its system was bound to collapse on Eid days, he added.

Mr Rehman said that the traditional collective sacrifices of animal organised by the JI received a huge response from Karachiites.

At a large number of places across the city and this “state-of-the-art” slaughterhouses in Gadap Town, the JI managed sacrifice of thousands of animals on all three days of Eid, he added.

“Besides this, a large number of animals were slaughtered by philanthropists to distribute meat among the poor and destitute”, he said. He pointed out that the meat of sacrificial animals was transported to several areas of the city by chiller trucks.

Head of community services of JI’s Al-Khidmat organisation Qazi Sadaruddin and JI deputy information secretary Sohaib Ahmed also briefed the media about the hide collection campaign across the city and other activities being carried out by the welfare body in different parts of the metropolis.
