FAISALABAD: The Supreme Court has restored Dr Iqrar Ahmad as vice chancellor of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).

Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed gave the verdict in the reserved judgment.

Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan secured 94.2 marks and was placed on the top of merit list prepared by the Search Committee formed for the appointment of the UAF VC.

Ignoring the merit, the Punjab government appointed Dr Muhammad Ashraf as the VC and Dr Ahmed challenged the decision.

Earlier, Dr Ahmed remained the UAF vice chancellor for two tenures.
