Four drown in separate incidents

SIALKOT/BAHAWALPUR: Two teenage boys were feared drowned in the Upper Chenab Canal near Sambrial on Tuesday.

The eyewitnesses said Asim (15) was bathing in the canal to beat the heat when he went into the deep water and started struggling to stay afloat. Awais (18) jumped into the canal to rescue Asim but both of them drowned in the canal.

The Rescue 1122 has launched a search operation to find the bodies of the deceased, which could not be found when this report was filed.

In Bahawalpur, two minor boys drowned in the Ahmedwah canal near Basti Noorshah within the limits of tehsil Hasilpur.

According to the Rescue 1122, the boys, Khalil (6) and Sufiyan (7), were taking a bath in the canal when they went into deep water and drowned. The locals took Khalil out of the canal in an effort to rescue him but found him dead. They could not find Sufiyan and called the rescuers who retrieved the body from the canal.
