Eatery worker killed by robbers in North Nazimabad

KARACHI: A restaurant worker was shot dead by armed robbers in North Nazimabad on Saturday afternoon, according to police.

They added that Ali Raheel, 35, was killed at the Pakistan Pakwan House in Block-H.

Hyderi Market SHO Imran Mehmood said that four robbers riding two motorbikes arrived at the restaurant at around 1.30pm. They snatched three mobile phones and some cash from the people there.

He said Raheel did not put up any resistance. Despite this, the armed robbers fired at him from a distance of around 35 feet while leaving the premises.

He suffered bullet injuries in the head and was initially taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, which referred him to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors said he was brought dead on arrival.

‘Missing’ jeweller found dead

The body of a “missing” jeweller was found in the outskirts of the city near the cattle market off Superhighway on Saturday, according to officials.

Sachal SHO Shafiq Rehman said that the body of Awais Hameed, 35, was found from a car parked in the parking area of the cattle market. Apparently, there were no injury marks on the body. A bottle of liquor was also found in the vehicle.

He said that the man was reportedly missing from Lyari’s Baghdadi area and a team of the police station concerned had also joined the investigation.

The body was shifted to a hospital to ascertain the exact cause of his death.

Baghdadi SHO Abdul Ghaffar Shah said he owned a jewellery shop in Saddar and left the shop on Friday along with some jewellery. He told his cousin that he was going to Defence. The family lodged a missing report at the Preedy police station.
