LOWER DIR: The Mohmand Zeerani Qaumi Tehreek have announced support to the law-enforcement agencies in protecting the country’s geographical and ideological boundaries.

The announcement was made during a workers’ convention of the Mohmand tribe held in Samarbagh the other day. Hundreds of tribal elders and youth attended the meeting.

On the occasion, Haji Hidayatur Rehman was elected president and Saleem Khan Mohmand general secretary of the organisation unopposed.

Besides electing other office bearers of the Tehreek, the participants also formed a 30-member committee headed by Shehzad Mohmand to raise the tribe’s issues with the authorities.

Addressing the convention, the newly-elected office-bearers said they would continue struggle to protect the rights of the Mohmand tribe.

In a separate development, a number of Jamaat-i-Islami workers announced to quit the party and joined the Awami National Party during a function held in Manga Dargai area.

ANP district general secretary Malik Mohammad Zeb chaired the meeting.

Addressing the function, Malik Zeb said budget did not provide any relief to the common man.

He said no mega development project had been approved for Lower Dir during the last three years.

He said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had failed to bring positive change to people’s lives, but rather increased their misery by not controlling rising inflation, unemployment and corruption. Mr Zeb insisted that ANP would sweep the next general elections in the province.

REORGANISATION: The JI Youth Wing elected here the other day presidents for all the tehsils of Lower Dir.

Engineer Zakir was elected president for Timergara tehsil, Shah Hassan for Balambat, Eng Imtiaz for Lal Qilla, Ikramuddin for Munda, Ubaidullah Tajak for Adenzai, Malik Hayat for Samarbagh and Izharullah for Khall tehsil.
