Punjab Open reaches semis stage

LAHORE: Mohammad Abid, Imran Bhatti, Heera Ashiq and Zaryab Pirzada won their respective men’s singles quarter-finals in the second Tennis Lovers Punjab Open Tennis Championship at the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association courts in Bagh-i-Jinnah here on Wednesday.

Abid, Imran, Heera and Zaryab won their matches against Jabir Ali, Sikandar Hayat, Bilal Farooq and Faizan Fayyaz, respectively.

Quarter-finals of other categories were also held on Wednesday. All semi-finals and finals will be held on Thursday.

Results (quarter-finals):

Men’s singles: Mohammad Abid bt Jabir Ali 6-0, 6-0; Imran Bhatti bt Sikandar Hayat 6-2, 6-3; Heera Ashiq bt Bilal Farooq 6-2, 6-2; Zaryab Pirzada bt Faizan Fayyaz 7-5, 6-2

Women’s singles: Shimza Naz Durab bt Raheema 8-0; Zahra Suleiman bt Labika Durab 8-5; Amna Ali Qayum bt Fajar Masood 8-2

Boys U-18: Faizan Fayyaz bt Mohammad Suhaan 8-0; Shaeel Durab bt Zaeem Ghafoor 8-3; Asad Zaman bt Ryan Munsif Khan 8-2; Abdul Hanan Khan bt Ahtesham Arif 9-7

Boys U-14: Asad Zaman bt Zain Saeed 8-0; Nabeel Ali Qayum bt Mohammad Suhaan 8-2; Amir Mazari bt Amna Ali Qayum 8-6;

Ahtesham Humayun bt Inam Bari 8-0

Boys U-12: Amir Mazari bt Zohaib Eesa 8-0; Aalay Hussain bt Ibrahim 8-2; Xeerak Mustafa bt Talha Tarar 8-3; Nabeel Ali Qayum bt Eesa Bilal 8-1.
