Dengue larvae detected in Rawalpindi govt offices

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah on Saturday took exception reports of dengue larvae detection in government offices and directed to issue warnings to their heads.

He directed all departments concerned to optimise their efforts in controlling dengue larvae in the next two weeks.

He was addressing the participants of anti-dengue review meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office, Rawalpindi. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Amir Aqiq Khan, Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Faiza Kanwal and of other concerned government department officials.

He said that strict legal action would be taken against those who would show any negligence in anti-dengue campaign. 

In this regard, explanation letters would also be issued to the officials involved in the bogus activities.

“The heads of all departments should once again go through the dengue SOPs and understand them,” he added.

The commissioner said the anti-dengue campaign continued throughout the year and even then we could not control it, it would be our incompetence.

He said they should focus their activities on making their exercise fruitful.

“Although only two confirmed cases of dengue have been reported in Rawalpindi so far, we should remain on high alert,” he added.

The commissioner further directed that special dengue surveillance should be carried out in the under construction buildings, garbage dumps and cemeteries within the district limits and house hold indoor and outdoor survey should be carried out effectively.

Besides, availability of the required medicines should be ensured in hospitals, he said, adding an integrated system should be put in place for awareness of general public.

Giving a detailed briefing on anti-dengue activities, health department briefed that 29 FIRs were registered, 220 Challans and 986 notices were issued and 54 buildings were sealed in Rawalpindi district for violating dengue SOPs.
