MQM-P postpones today’s rally

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Monday evening announced postponement of its protest rally scheduled for Tuesday in order to avoid a confrontation with Sindhi nationalist parties who are going to hold a protest demonstration in the city the same day.

The decision was announced by senior MQM-P leader Amir Khan at a press conference at his party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad.

He condemned the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government for what he called supporting the “anti-Pakistan” organisations by facilitating them in organising a rally on the same day when the MQM-P was going to hold its event. He said that the PPP always started using the “Sindh card” whenever its corruption and bad governance was highlighted.

He said that the MQM-P would soon give a new date for its protest rally and would show that the people of Karachi were united against all anti-state elements.
