LAHORE: With 57 more Covid-related deaths during the last 24 hours, the total number of casualties reached 10,241 in Punjab.

Of these, 12 patients died in the provincial capital, where the death toll has risen to 4,148.

Similarly, the total number of the infections in Punjab reached 341,789, after 399 more people tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours.

In Punjab 119 cases were reported in Lahore, while others in Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Lodhran, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Khushab, Sialkot, Chiniot, Sargodha, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Jehlum, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, and Bhakar.

A spokesperson for the health department said as many as 21,390 Covid tests were performed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the health department, has sent another reminder to the heads of the 27 teaching hospitals of the province to start vaccination at their respective institutes from tomorrow (Monday). They were directed to make fully functional the new corona vaccination centres at the hospitals, besides making other arrangements which were notified on Friday last.

The Punjab government has been assigned the task to vaccinate nearly 67 million people in the the province by the end of December, 2021 to curtail the pandemic.
