NAROWAL: A former president of the district bar association was gunned down here on Wednesday.

Reports said DBA ex-president Rana Shahid Noor riding a car was on his way home in Khawajagan locality of the city from Narowal courts when two motorcyclists ambushed him and opened fire on him near his house.

The lawyer suffered critical injuries and succumbed to his wounds on way to the district headquarters hospital.

A city police team reached the spot and collected evidence. According to eyewitnesses, Shahid Noor himself was driving the car when the suspects opened fire on him.

A large number of lawyers rushed to the DHQ hospital after receiving information about the incident.

DSP (Headquarters) Sheikh Mohammad Ilyas said police had cordoned off the area and they would [hopefully] arrest the suspects shortly.
