Kohat people complain of power cuts during rain

KOHAT: The business community and domestic consumers here have complained that electricity supply remains suspended for several hours whenever rain and winds start, causing immense problems to them.

They said that such a situation had been witnessed during the last one week.

On Saturday, electricity went off with a drizzle at 3pm and the supply could not be restored till filing of this report in the evening though the rain had stopped at 5:30pm.

A couple of days ago the floodlights at the new KDA Stadium fell down on the poles of heavy lines, leading to power suspension.

Similarly, with heavy lightning the power disappeared a few days ago at 8pm and it was restored at 11pm.

The Pesco had said that a fault had appeared in feeder No.3, which would take time to repair.

The mobile number of SDO Wajidullah was off while the Pesco executive engineer, Yousuf Khan, did not pick up the call to know what was causing the outages.

ANTI-ISRAEL PROTEST: The ulema and religious activists held a joint protest against Israel under the banner of a committee in Shakardarra town here on Saturday.

A joint committee was formed under Maulana Umer Nawaz’s leadership with Mufti Fazal Raheem, local JI leader, Hamid Nawaz, retired Brig Saifullah Khattak, Maulana Mohammad Shafique of JUI-F, Maulana Ghufran and others as its members to organise the protest.

The speakers regretted that due to lack of unity among the Muslims the UN Security Council and the West remained silent over aggression of the Israeli forces. They stressed that the Muslim states would have to take practical steps to stop the massacre of Palestinian people.
