Bodies of drowned youth recovered

DERA ISMAIL KHAN/LAKKI MARWAT: Divers on Monday morning recovered the bodies of two young men, who had drowned in Chashma Barrage Lake in Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday evening.

Ten friends had gone to the lake for picnic, but their boat capsized due to strong winds. Eight of them were rescued, while two went missing, the police said.

A police official said a group of youths from Lakki Marwat had gone to the Chashma Barrage for picnic at the invitation of Mohammad Suleman, manager of a private rest house.

Later, the friends went for an outing on the private boat of a local man, which capsized due to strong winds.

Fazal Manan, Rescue 1122 district emergency officer, said as soon as the incident was reported, local people and rescue teams started search for the men. The rescuers saved eight persons from drowning and shifted them to Chashma hospital.

Later, Pak Army divers were called in to help locate the missing men, identified as Noor Aslam and Irfan Ali.

Later, the deceased were laid to rest in Lakki city on Monday.

MPA Munawar Khan, DPO Imran Khan, head of Marwat Qaumi Jirga Mohammad Aslam Khan and elders were among those who attended the funeral prayers.
