Where’s empathy?

IT is irritating to see bank staffers serving their own colleagues and acquaintances on occasions when there are long queues in front of the relevant counters.

Recently, I waited for my turn at a bank counter for two hours, but due to the staff members’ focus on their favourites, I had to return home tired and frustrated. This sorry state of affairs in banks is making people desperate and they tend to lose their temper. Unfortunately, the staff’s indifference to the needs of the customers erodes the latter’s confidence in different sectors of life.

Standing in long queues requires patience and energy. But when this long wait is not given its due and some ‘special people’ are served, one loses faith in the system in place.

With the pandemic situation getting worse and people having to stand in long queues with practically no SOPs in place, the authorities concerned should look into the matter on an urgent basis.
