Consumers urged to boycott chicken

KOHAT: The Grand Business Alliance of Kohat has appealed to the people to boycott chicken till its price comes down to normal rate of Rs165 per kilogramme.

The alliance’s president Haji Mohammad Abid asked people to boycott purchasing chicken as the government had failed to keep a strict check on its price.

Mohammad Ayub, president of chicken market association, argued that as the wholesale dealers of Khushab, from where chicken was brought daily to Kohat, had raised the price of live chicken they had to sell it at high rate. He said due to increasing prices of chicken their sales had dropped.

BURGLARY: Unidentified burglars broke into a mobile shop in Sher Bahadar Market near Shah Faisal Gate here on Tuesday and looted Rs182,000 cash in broad daylight.

A police official of tehsil checkpost, Mohammad Basit, who registered a case, told Dawn that shop owner Mohammad Javed had earlier illegally opened the shop during lockdown.

The official said that millions worth of mobile sets in the four adjacent shops had also not been stolen, which made the owner a suspect and he was being interrogated.

Police said Mohammad Javed reported that he closed his shop at 1pm. Later, tailors in the same market informed him at 7pm that someone had broken into his outlet.

He came back to the shop and during checking found Rs182,000 cash missing. Surprisingly not a single mobile set had been stolen, the police official said.
