Steps reviewed for oxygen supply in Balochistan

QUETTA: A meeting discussed the Covid-19 situation and reviewed arrangements for uninterrupted supply of oxygen to all major hospitals in Balochistan.

The meeting, presided over by Health Secretary Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, ass­essed the oxygen status, plant, storage tanks, ventilators and beds for patients of coronavirus.

The secretary directed the medical superintendents (MS) of all public sector hospitals to ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen and it was agreed to increase the number of oxygen cylinders and beds in hospitals to deal with any emergencies.

He also ordered them to increase the number of emergency injections, medicines and beds used for the treatment of coronavirus patients in all hospitals and to provide ventilators.

The meeting decided on the status of oxygen in all district hospitals, plant, storage tanks, availability of oxygen cylinders and filling procedures and action plan to ensure 24-hour supply of oxygen.

It was informed that the oxygen plants of the hospitals in Quetta are not only fully operational but oxygen cylinders are also being filled from the plants.

The health secretary said that in view of the third wave of coronavirus, control rooms have been set up in all hospitals and operation cells to ensure timely communication and other needs in the context of Covid-19 emergency have been done so that any kind of emergency situation can be dealt with immediately.

The meeting was informed that timely entry of laboratory data, tracing, tracking and quarantine mechanism and reporting of coronavirus patients in Balochistan is being effectively monitored on a daily basis.

It reviewed the situation of vaccination against coronavirus in different districts of Balochistan and agreed on a plan of action to expedite the vaccination process.

Special Health Secretary Ghulam Farooq Marri, Quetta Civil Hospital MS Dr Arbab Kamran Kasi, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital MS Dr Kamalan Gichki, MS Fatima Jinnah Hospital Dr Mir Noorullah Musakhail, Additional Director MSD Dr Faheem Khan and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
