Jirga settles 46-year-old land dispute

SUKKUR: A jirga (tribal court) settled a 46-year-old land dispute between the Leghari and Mahar communities of Ghotki district.

Presided over by Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar at his residence, Gohar Palace, in Khangarh on Monday evening, the jirga ruled that the disputed piece of land be equally divided between the two sides.

It also fixed compensation (Rs1m against death of a man and Rs200,000 for causing injuries to a person) in the attacks carried out during the hostility.
