LAHORE: The Punjab government on Thursday made Deputy Secretary (Cabinet) S&GAD Umer Abbas Mela OSD and directed him to report to the S&GAD department.

Sources in the department say that Mr Mela has been transferred after being identified that he had drafted the South Punjab secretariat “errneous” notification that spelled that the secretariat should be wound up.

Soon after the issuance of the notification and the consequent hue and cry, the government immediately withdrew the notification as if never issued and made Implementation and Coordination (I&C) department secretary OSD.

Meanwhile, the government has posted OSD Jahanzeb as Deputy Secretary (Cabinet) S&GAD.
